Rich McCoy is a mythopoetic poet and writer whose work explores ancestry, symbolism, and the unconscious through a Jungian lens. His current project, Son of Fire, is a collection of poetry and surrealist short stories tracing the inheritance of spirit and survival across generations, a meditation on lineage, myth, and the shaping of a just future.
Before dedicating himself fully to writing, McCoy built a career in global advertising and digital design, where he developed a deep understanding of narrative craft and the power of story to move people. That sensibility, direct, human, and emotionally resonant, carries through into his poetry, which privileges authenticity over ornament. Dyslexic since childhood, he writes not to impress but to connect: his work speaks in the plain language of myth, image, and fire.
Now living off-grid in Aotearoa / New Zealand, McCoy continues to create across disciplines, with his visual artwork at mccoy.co.uk , his design practice at mccoyand.co , and his artist interview series Hearth Tales on Fresh FM, amplifying creative voices across Aotearoa.
At the heart of all his work lies a belief in the transformative power of story — to heal, to remember, and to reimagine what might yet be.
